A HOLISTIC APPROACH TO WELLBEING
A blog about an authentic, contextual approach to Positive Education
A CULTURE OF CARE

HEAD - HEART - HANDS

WELCOME,

As an effective educational leader and a facilitator of learning, I base my actions on a well-informed set of values; have a high degree of self-efficacy and a deep sense of commitment and responsibilithy. I have a clear personal vision for optimising learning and promoting flourishing individuals  and the courage and determination to achieve that vision. My leadership is motivated by my top character strengths of fairness, gratitude and honesty and a commitment to improving educational outcomes through wellbeing for learning. I am passionate about high expectations for all learners, positive education and authentic student voice. 'Demography is not destiny' and through Positive Education and a focus on strengths all children and young people will aspire to have high hope and achieve their dreams.

I am passionate teacher, counsellor and leader and has worked in Aboriginal Schools and Communities, the Far North of South Australia and was the Dean of Students leading Positive Education, Students with Disabilities and proactive programs including the Children's University at Mark Oliphant B-12 College.

I am a member of the Positive Education Schools Association,  have presented keynote presentations and workshops at PESA and other Positive Education and Wellbeing conferences and worked with a number of schools across Australia to support their schools implementation of Positive Education, with a focus on a contextual approach, and a focus on value-adding as opposed to  adding-on to an already complex environment.

I am passionate about embedding Positive Education in a contextually appropriate way in schools with a particular emphasis on increasing and instilling hope in our young people. My blog reflects learning from research, conversation, collaboration and practice and aims to support other passionate educators on the journey of Wellbeing for Learning for all children and young people.
